Looking Ahead to the Spring 2026 SLE Showcase

The second annual Service-Learning Excellence Showcase is coming this spring! This signature event celebrates the strong collaboration among faculty, students, and community partners. Participants are invited to present their projects in a research-poster format, highlighting the impact of service-learning across a wide range of disciplines. The 2026 theme: “Uniting Communities”

What Can You Showcase?

  • Student Projects:
    Share the meaningful work completed through service-learning and highlight real-world impact.
  • Teaching Practices:
    Showcase innovative teaching strategies that have strengthened service-learning courses and enhanced student learning.
  • Research Contributions:
    Present research, findings, and scholarly work that advance the practice and understanding of service-learning in your field.

Who Can Participate?

  • To highlight collaborative work, at least two of the following must be present: faculty member, student(s), and/or community partner. For example, a faculty member and a student, or a student and a community partner, may present together.         
  • Presenters should be prepared to summarize their project in 3–5 minutes and answer audience questions.

SLE Showcase Poster Guidelines

  • Title: Clearly state your project’s main focus or contribution in a concise sentence.

    Authors & Presenters: Include full names, affiliations, community partners, and emails.

    Abstract: Write 150–200 words summarizing goals, methods, and outcomes. It can be created by students, faculty, or community partners, individually or collaboratively.

    Sections & Subheadings: Use complete sentence subheadings to guide viewers (e.g., “New Dept. Food Bank addresses food insecurity among university community,” rather than “Food Insecurity”).

     Required sections:

    • Context & Purpose
    • Partnership & Methodology
    • Implementation Process
    • Evaluation & Results
    • Reflection & Lessons Learned
    • Future Directions
  • Dimensions & Orientation: 36" x 48", landscape.

    Fonts: Title ≥42 pt, Headings ≥28 pt, Main text ≥18 pt.

    Visuals: Include charts, photos, or graphics showing collaboration and impact. Caption and credit all images.

    Accessibility: Use high-contrast colors for readability.

    File Format: PDF, minimum 300 dpi resolution.

  • Poster Submission Deadline: March 12, 2026

    Electronic Submission: Posters must be submitted electronically no later than 3 weeks before the showcase date.

    Printing Costs: SLE will cover the cost of printing the poster for the 2026 Showcase.
