Service-Learning Cords FAQs

Students who successfully complete a course with the official service-learning designation are eligible to purchase the cords.

To see if your class has that designation, check the course attributes for your classes. If you see "SLSD" or "Service Learning Section," you are enrolled in a service-learning course.

No. Service-learning honor cords are not exclusive to Honors College students. Any student who registers for and successfully completes a designated service-learning course is eligible to purchase a service-learning honor cord.

No. Eligible students must purchase their cords. Each cord costs $15 plus applicable taxes and shipping fees (if mailed).

There is no limit on the number of cords you may purchase. You may buy any cords for which you are eligible based on your completed SLE courses. For example, if you complete multiple SLE courses across different colleges, you may purchase the corresponding college cords in addition to the red and yellow Service-Learning cord.

Cords can be purchased here during the designated ordering period. Cords may be picked up (walk-in) from the SLE office or mailed to an address. Mailing orders will include applicable shipping fees.

You may purchase your cords anytime before graduation if you have completed a designated Service-Learning (SLE) course.

Please note that reminder emails to purchase cords are only sent to students who are enrolled in a service-learning (SLE) course during the current semester. Students who completed the course in previous semesters may not receive reminders. So you have to check here if the store is open to purchase cords. 
After the last day to purchase, the store is closed, and purchases can only be made in the next semester.
 

1. If you completed a designated service-learning course, you are qualified to purchase a Service-Learning Honor Cord.
2. For your college-specific cord, please refer to the table below to identify the correct cord based on the course that received the SLSD designation.

Once the cords are packed, you will receive an email with the pickup location details. 

Students who choose pickup must collect their cords before the stated pickup deadline.

Our office is Nueces 233 and office hours are published on our home page each semester.

Orders not picked up before the deadline may not be guaranteed.

Shipping may take up to three weeks after your order has been dispatched.

Shipping timelines are outside of our control once the package has been mailed.

If you do not receive your order after three weeks, please contact the SLE office immediately through the official SLE email for assistance.

If you are unable to pick up your cord, you may have a proxy pick it up on your behalf. The proxy will need to provide your full name and your Order Number when collecting the order.

No. These cords are exclusively designated for Service-Learning recognition and cannot be substituted for other organizations, departments, or academic programs.
